Summer
Our garden is in full bloom in the summer. As we return to school after summer break, we spend time connecting with the garden. We learn how to interact with the space, caring for plants and animals. We build fairy houses, harvest delicious fruits and pick bouquets of late summer flowers.
Fall
In the fall season, our Kindergarteners do fall-flavored activities. We harvest pumpkins, make marigold crowns, save sunflower seeds and build scarecrows. We celebrate the harvest and welcome cooler days. We tuck the garden in for the winter, watching as our fruitful summer plants are replaced by cover crops and winter greens.

Spring
In the spring, our Kindergarteners grow sunflowers. We plant the seeds that we saved in the fall, and watch them sprout in garden pots, growing hairy stems that reach toward the sun. When they are big enough, we plant our sunflowers in garden beds, where they will grow three times taller than us!! These sunflowers will provide next year's Kindergarteners with plenty of new seeds.
